Public involvement led to the creation of two design options within the recommended Locally Preferred Alternative (recommended LPA).
• Based on community feedback, including backyard visits to homes in the Valley Forge Homes neighborhood,
the PA Turnpike North/South design option would shift the proposed alignment to the north side of the
PA Turnpike away from the homes along Kingwood Road, Bluebuff Road, and Powderhorn Road in the
Valley Forge Homes neighborhood. The alignment would then cross diagonally over the PA Turnpike and
US Route 202 to the south side of the PA Turnpike away from the residents in the Brandywine Village
community. Shifting the alignment to the north side of the PA Turnpike through this area would reduce noise
and visual impacts to neighbors living along the PA Turnpike.
• The 9/11 Memorial Avoidance design option was also developed based on community feedback and
concerns expressed by the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company (KPVFC). Moving the alignment to the
other side of the 9/11 memorial reduces visual and noise impacts to those people visiting the memorial.
This design option has not been approved by the KPVFC board, and would require continued consultation
with fire company officials before it would be considered for inclusion in the recommended LPA.
